Did We leave school or did Schooling evolve?

As reported by UNESCO, by the end of March 2020 over 87 percent of the word’s student population had been affected by school closures caused by covid, meaning 87% of students were still attending school however the classes would be conducted online rather than face to face. COVID-19 forced teachers, parents, and students to swiftly take on the new means of education and in the given roughly 2-week period schools around the word rapidly had to find and implement viable alternatives to face-to-face education. 

How did schools in Australia adjust to online learning?  

Most schools in Australia resorted to Microsoft teams or Microsoft one note to set tasks and them in while teachers used zoom to venerably communicate with students while giving the student time to ask questions. teachers also showed concern with a survey conducted on Pivot where 77 percent of teachers feel a disruption to their social connection with their students which personally having a good social connection with your teacher makes for a more enjoyable class. 

Biggest disadvantages with online learning  

While online learning in most cases is considered more convenient, like everything it has its negatives. The big one that affected everyone whether we want to admit it or not, online learning requires an immense amount of motivation and self-control to stay on track. A big one for me personally during that crazy time was the lack of social interactions with friends and adjusting to that reality was hard and returning to normal school was even harder. 

Whether we like it or not COVID has affected us forever in every aspect of our lives but more schooling. Before COVID school was just school, you went there Monday through Friday for six hours a day however now you can attend everything online even a high school which is just crazy to think about but opens a lot more doors.
